On 1 June 2012, H.E. Mr. Kamthorn Sitthtichoti, Ambassador of Thailand to Lima held bilateral meeting with Mr. Pedro Olaechea, President of the Federation of Industries of Peru and Mr. David Lemor, President of the Trade Commission of the Federation in order to discuss way and means to enhance bilateral cooperation on trade and investment between Thailand and Peru.
Earlier in February 2012, during Thailand – Peru Joint – Commission Meeting held in Lima, Thailand and Peru pledged to foster all bilateral relations and cooperation in all aspects especially in economics and investments. Ambassador Kamthorn and the representatives of the Federation of Industries discussed possible joint cooperation such as the possible visit to Thailand of the Peruvian private sector, together with the high level visit, the promotion of Thai and Peruvian investment in each country, the potential sectors for investment in Thailand.
Both side exchanged their view that Thailand and Peru could be strategic partner of each other in the regions. Ambassador emphasized Thailand’s strategic location and potentials as the market access and hub of ASEAN while Mr. Olaechea expressed that the business sectors that have strong potential for Thai and Peruvian private sectors are under the fields of agriculture, industrial agriculture, food and beverage ,construction and tourism.
