H.E. Mr. Kamthorn Sithtichoti, Ambassador of Thailand to Colombia (with residence in Peru) presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai Festival which was held in Centro Hacienda el Cedro, Bogota, Colombia, on 9th May 2012. This event aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Colombia, through creating trade and investment networking in the government and private sectors, including those sectors in export/import , investment and tourism. It is expected that the Thai Festival will provide an opportunity for Colombians to learn and understand more about various aspects of Thailand- role of the monarch, political development, business opportunities, Thai culture and food, as well as Thailand’s tourist destinations.
The event was held on the premises of the historical building turned into a museum of General Francisco de Paula Santander, a soldier and a politician, who was recognized as the Civil Founder of the Republic of Colombia. A ecture was given by H.E. Ambassador Kamthorn Sithtichoti on “Overview Presentation on Thailand and Its Relations with Colombia.” Mrs. Supisara Chompan, Director of Thailand’s Economic and Investment Office in New York, provided the audience with a lecture on “Think Asia, Invest Thailand : Thailand – A Perfect Place for Your Business to Grow.” Other activities for guests to enjoy are Muay Thai and fruit carving demonstration. At the end of the event, guests were invited to taste authentic Thai cuisine – Pad Thai and Fish cake- along with Thai desert,
