The Royal Thai Embassy in Lima organized 2 consecutive events in commemoration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 80 birthday anniversary.
On August 9, 2555 the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima in cooperation with the Floralies Association (Flower Festival Association of Peru)organized activities to humbly celebrate the auspicious occassion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit‘s 80th birthday anniversary as well as to promote Thai cultures. This first event was held at the residence of Mrs. Marivi de Ferrari, one of the members of the Association.
Mrs. Kachapinruja Sithtichoti, spouse of Ambassador Kamthorn Sithtichoti gave a lecture about Her Majesty the Queen’s activity to alleviate the economic problem of Thai rural people. The projects under the Queen’s patronage were introduced to the meeting of this Association along with the valuable information about Thailand and its cultures. Bringing to their attention of these flower lovers, she also gave the information regarding the flowers named after Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand. For example in 1958, Black and Flory Limited Company, an English Company, named a hybrid of Cattleya Bow Bells and Cattleya O'brieniana as “ Cattleya Queen Sirikit”. In 1968, Mr. Andre Hendricx, Director of Grandes Roseraiea du Val de Loire, a rose plantation in France, asked a royal permission from Her Majesty the Queen to name a hybrid rose of Konigin der Rosen and the Golden Giant Rose as “Queen Sirikit Rose”.
After the presentation, Madam Sithtichoti invited all the distinguished guests to join her in a toast to honor Her Majesty the Queen’s dedication to Thai people in all walks of life. Thai famous dishes such as Chicken Masaman Curry, which has been voted as the best dish through CNN survey,along with Thai hot streamed rice and Thai desserts were served.
On August 16, 2012, during the monthly meeting of the Ayuda con Amor ( Association of spouses of Foreign Ambassadors with residence in Peru) which was held at the Thai Ambassador Residence , Madam Sithtichoti took the opportunity to invite members of the Association to join in a toast to honor Her Majesty the Queen ‘s dedication for the wellbeing of all Thais and wish Her Majesty good health and happiness.
On both occasions, the Royal Thai Embassy displayed exhibition of Her Majesty the Queen ‘s biography, Royal activities, projects as well as the examples of Royal project products which attracted great attention from all the distinguished guests.
