Ambassador kamthorn Sithtichoti, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Peru paid an official visit to the Republic of Colombia and presented the Letter of Credence to His Excellency Dr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderon, President of the Republic of Colombia

His Excellency Mr. Kamthorn Sithtichoti,  Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Peru, paid an official visit to the Republic of Colombia during 12 – 16 December 2011. On this occasion, H.E. Sithichoti presented the Letter of Credence to H.E. Dr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderon, President of the Republic of Colombia on 15 December 2011 . During his visit, Ambassador Sithtichoti held bilateral discussion with several high ranking government officials as well as those from the private sector, including  Dr. Gabriel Duque , Vice Minister of  International Trade, Dr. Monica Lanzetta, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meetings,  Ambassador Sithtichoti expressed Thailand’s sincere appreciation for the Colombian government’s supports for Thailand candidature in some United Nations elections. Taking into account the similarities and differences which could complement each other, both sides agreed that  there are opportunities that Thailand and Colombia could potentially develop for the mutual benefits of both sides.

In addition, Ambassador of Thailand also met with Dr. Maria Monica Conde , Director of International Business of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Santiago Angel Urdinola , Secretary General of the  Andi – Asociacion Nacional de Industriales. During these meetings, both sides discussed ways and means to enhance roles of private sector in promoting bilateral economic relations, including trade , investment and tourism. The Colombians also took this opportunity to promote and extend the invitation for the Thai private sectors to participate in the Latin Expo in Bogota (March 2012) and FEALAC Business Forum ( August 2012) to be held in Bogota.
