On December 1, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima organized a reception to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulayadej’s 88th birthday anniversary and Thai national day at the J.W. Marriot, Lima.
Ambassador Ruengdej Mahasaranond delivered a speech in honor of His Majesty the King who has tirelessly performed his hard works, contributing to the sustainable development of Thailand as well as the wellbeing of Thai people. Therefore, His Majesty has earned during his reign a remarkable degree of love, reverence and respect from Thai people. Ambassador Mahasaranond gave an overview of Thailand economy and Government Policies to encourage the consolidation of research, development and production for key industrial clusters as well as to promote the development of special economic zones to link trade and investment and to accelerate economic development around borders of Thailand, as well as infrastructure and logistics development of the country. He mentioned Thailand´s role in international forum like UN that Thailand has presented itself for the candidature for the UN Security Council for the term 2017-2018.
Regarding Thailand – Peru relations, Ambassador of Thailand informed that this year marks 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. The relations between our two countries have blossomed in all dimensions, developing into a strong and strategic partnership today. Thailand and Peru pledge to build a more prosperous and promising future for our two countries and peoples.
Mobile exhibitions and videos about His Majesty the king, the royal initiated development projects, as well as Thailand ´s culture and tourism were on display. Thai traditional dances, performed by the students from Gospevera dance school as well as Muay Thai demonstration by Ms. Maria Paula Buzaglo, latest World Muay Thai Champion were part of the cultural programme of the event.
Approximately 300 invited guests, including diplomatic corps, high-level officials from public agencies, businessmen, academic professors, press, friends of Thailand as well as Thai people in Lima and Thai AFS exchanged students attended the event. Ambassador Armando Patiño Alvistur, Director-General for Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru participated in the event as the Guest of Honor.
